# about
I'm Alvar Sjögren — a student on the Civilingenjör i Interaktion och Design programme at Umeå University. It's a five-year engineering degree that combines computer science with human-centered interaction design.
Outside of coursework I spend most of my time building things. I run a home lab with Proxmox, OPNsense, and a growing stack of self-hosted services. I make games with Godot. I tinker with 3D printing. And I try to understand every layer of the systems I use — from the kernel up.
My daily driver is Arch Linux with Hyprland. I care about open source, self-hosting, and building things properly rather than quickly. If something can be understood, it should be. If something can be self-hosted, it probably should be.
# interests
- Infrastructure — home lab networking, virtualization, self-hosting
- Game development — Godot 4, game jams with Team Skade
- Linux — Arch, Hyprland, dotfile tinkering, workflow optimization
- 3D printing — functional prints, enclosures, prototyping
- Interaction design — making technology that respects its users
